Day Carer – Edgware, HA8 – Regular Ongoing Work Available ☀️

We are seeking a compassionate and confident day carer to provide support for a lovely lady in Edgware, HA8. This is an excellent opportunity to build a strong rapport with a client who values companionship and enjoys a good chat. 😊

About the Role:

You’ll be supporting a female client in her own home with personal care, mobility, and day-to-day tasks. Our client, RKA, is a sociable and capable individual who has recently been discharged from the Spinal Injury Centre following shoulder surgery. She lives independently but requires support due to a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) at T3/T4 level, insulin-controlled diabetes, and a history of autonomic dysreflexia (AD). She’s eager to regain function and return to activities she previously enjoyed, including volunteering. Currently feeling isolated, she's looking for a friendly face and someone to share laughter with. Maintaining personal hygiene is very important to her, and she likes to do as much as possible independently. Due to the intimate nature of the personal care required, and to ensure the client’s privacy and dignity, this role is open to female carers only. This is a genuine occupational requirement permitted under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

As her day carer, you will be:

Assisting with personal care – client requests a female carer Supporting medication management (insulin) & monitoring for signs of Autonomic Dysreflexia. Facilitating hoisted transfers as required. Encouraging independence and supporting her goals to regain function. Preparing regular meals to manage her diabetes. Driving her car for appointments and social outings (client has a vehicle – helpful but not essential). Providing companionship and emotional support to combat loneliness. Aware that she has a suprapubic catheter, changed 3-weekly by District Nursing services. Performing passive movements daily as directed.

🗓️ (Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm only)

🪙 Pay Rate: UK Pound 15.14 per hour

📍Location: Edgware, HA8 🗺️

🚗 Driver: Helpful but not essential

📅 Start Date: 14th April (to be confirmed)

What We’re Looking For:

A patient, professional and female support worker who is naturally chatty, confident, and able to build a positive rapport with the client. A good sense of humour is highly valued! Experience with hoisted transfers is helpful. Comfortable supporting a client who values independence in personal care.

Training & Support:

We are a specialist provider of Spinal Cord Injury and complex Neurological care and will provide full training to support you in caring for this lady, so prior SCI experience isn’t essential. We'll equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver excellent care.
